Henryetta school board members accepted a resignation then called for a February election Monday night.
At the October board meeting, the four remaining members, James Williams, Brandi Brown, Brandi Cunningham and Jeanie Duncan, set Feb. 9 as the date for the next school election. The election will be held to fill the five year term that is expiring for Brown.
The group also accepted the resignation of board member James Cox. He submitted his resignation earlier this month claiming out of state work responsibilities would prevent him from completing his term. Cox was elected in 2014. No replacement was announced.
In other business, superintendent Dwayne Noble reminded the board of a special groundbreaking ceremony Monday morning.
All of the grade school students are going to be present for the groundbreaking to be held across from the elementary school. It will signal the start of work on both an elementary addition and the new STEM building. Both are scheduled to be completed by the start of school next year.
