Connie Dodge, a longtime resident of rural Henryetta, died Nov. 22, 2015 at his home at the age of 93. He was born Oct. 3, 1922 to Bill Dodge and Carrie (Bomberger) Dodge. He married Gladys Mae Johnson on March 21, 1947 in Henryetta and to this union three children were born. He was an area farmer and rancher for many years. He also worked at Eagle-Picher Smelter for several years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Carrie Dodge, three brothers, Jim Dodge, Ralph Dodge, Emmett Dodge, three sisters, Bessie Spurlock, Hudy Middleton, and Georgia Wilhite.
Among the survivors are his wife Gladys of the home; three children: Sue Matthews and husband Jimmy, Norma Artussee and husband Dan and Bill Dodge, all of Henryetta; seven grandchildren: Brandon Wheeler and wife Carlie of Henryetta, Brett Wheeler and wife Billie Jean of Coweta, Amy Norman and husband James of Jay, Jay Matthews and wife Tara of Henryetta, Jayme Matlock and husband Patrick of Henryetta, Billy Joe Dodge and wife Jeanette of Henryetta and Casie Nolan and husband Nick of Wetumka; 16 great-grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Brandon Wheeler, Brett Wheeler, Jay Matthews, Billy Joe Dodge, Patrick Matlock, Nick Nolan and James Norman.
Viewing will be from noon until 8 p.m., Tuesday with family present to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at the Dewar United Pentecostal Church with Rev. Brett Wheeler, officiating. Interment will follow at the Rockin D Ranch Family Cemetery under direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
