STEM instructor Krystal Rogers told the board that studies on electrical circuitry resulted in students building a powered spinning wheel and soda bottle car.
The students, Emily Payne, Alexis Thompson, Grant Holder, Dax Sanders and James Martin showed the board members how their devices worked as well as explained the studies involved.battery racer"The students had to research parallel circuitry and come up with a project," Rogers said.
Nobel announced the Middle School STEM program has just received a $10,000 grant for a 3D printer. "This is the third STEM grant she has received so far," he said.
Board members were told the school is financially, "in good shape," by auditor Jack Jenkins Monday night.
He presented the board with the audit for the 2014-15 school year pointing out only one problem existed and needed corrective actions.
"The school needs to be more diligent in making deposits to the school activity funds," he said. According to state policy, when money to the activity funds reach $100, a bank deposit should be made. "The fear is receipts or checks could be lost or stolen," Jenkins explained. "A lot of schools are not in compliance with this," he continued.
