There is something for the children and parents this Saturday at the Henryetta elementary.
Youngsters will be dancing and having fun at the grade school gym for an old-fashioned sock hop.
50sSponsored by the Henryetta Elementary PTO, the sock hop will be held in two sessions giving youngsters from pre-k through fifth grade equal opportunity to enjoy a Saturday of activity.
The pre-k through second grade will be having from from 5:30 to 6:30 followed by third through fifth graders dancing and enjoying games from 7 to 8:30.
PTO members are encouraging parents to dress up their children in 1950s style. A contest will be held to determine the best dressed youngsters. For refreshments, a soda shop will be open. Games include a special hula hoop contest.
There is a $5 admission for each child and a special discount is being offered for all siblings. The admission price includes a treat from the concession stand.
That same evening, the adults and older children will be participating in a bingo contest.bingo
It will be held at the grade school cafeteria with the first games starting at 6 p.m. The last bingo number will be read off at 8:30 p.m.
A number of prices from local businesses will be given to the winners and a concession stand will be open.
Bingo cards will be $5 each or three for $10. There will be a blackout bingo game for $1 per sheet with special prizes awarded.
No admission fee will be charged.
All funds will be used by the Elementary PTO for various school projects through the year.
