Walmart stores in Henryetta, Okmulgee and Checotah are safe from the list of closures announced by the company Friday.
According to a list from Walmart, stores affected in Oklahoma include those in Okemah, Wewoka, Prague, Stroud and Luther.
Overall 154 stores will be closed in the United States. The Oklahoma stores are known as Walmart Express stores. They will all be closing doors on Jan. 28. A total of 102 Walmart Express and 23 Neighborhood Market stores as well as 12 super centers and four Sam's Club locations will be closed.
According to the Bentonville, Ark., based company, there are still plans to open over 100 stores in the U.S. next year.
Those closures will impact over 16,000 employees overall, 10,000, in the U.S.
