Members of the Henryetta golf club are looking forward to a new year with improved greens and a new look to the golf course.
At the annual members banquet Thursday night, committee members learned the cost of replacing all nine greens with special bermuda grass is paid for as well as the upgrades to the irrigation system.
golf boardIn addition to the new greens, the course has seen the addition of sone 100 trees donated from Greenleaf Nursery in Fort Gibson. Some of those trees will be replacing older ones that have fallen victim to disease and old age.
Membership at the course has increased to 92 with plans to add more in the coming months. To help with that, the board has added a new installment payment system that will allow dues to be automatically taken from a bank account.
The course has been the subject of an extensive marketing campaign during the past year. Nearly 24,000 hits have been counted on the course website, www.henryettagolf.com, since it started in 2013 and over 25,000 views have been recorded for the Facebook page. Both have been hosted by Bruce Jones from Thehenryettan.com. The club website includes access for registered members to see board meeting minutes and financial statements.
A feature story by Golf Oklahoma magazine along with participating in the county tourism guide and a newsletter for members also provides information about the activities at the course.
During the meeting, board elections were held. Outgoing members included Jim Crockett, Larry Hester, and Gayle Machetta.  Club Members who have been nominated to fill seats on the Board include Gary Carnes, Dale Horne, and Zac Walker.
The club plans to continue the monthly steak night as well as Fourth of July fireworks and barbecue. A clinic will be held in June to provide instruction to youngsters.
