|The glass plant is scheduled to receive a $25 million capital investment according to new general manager William Harper.
Speaking to the Henryetta Chamber of Commerce board of directors Monday, he said the plant is secure for the next eight to 10 years at least.
|Ardagh Group, the new owners of the facility, will be spending the money for two new furnaces as well as four hearths.
Ardagh, an international container manufacturing company, purchased the facility as well as seven others in the United States from Anchor Glass earlier this year.
|The new owners operates 100 manufacturing facilities in 25 countries around the world. The purchase was announced in July and finalized in August.
During the noon meeting, Dirk Palmer was named president, David Dykes elected as vice-president and Donnie Smith named treasurer of the organization. They will take office next month.
|Chamber executive director Roy Madden called the parade and Christmas Dollars efforts successful with over $2 million in retail sales being estimated from the number of tickets that were used for the drawing last Saturday.
"The hopper was just about filled up," he said. "Based on those sales, during the time the Christmas Dollars promotion was going on, over $100,000 in sales tax revenue was generated."
|First place winner was Gary Pilkington who received $2,240 for his prize. The total is in the form of Chamber Bucks that must be spent with participating merchants locally. Pilkington, who lives in Morris, told Madden he wanted to give something back to the community and purchased 10, $20 gift certificates from Midway Grocery that will be added to ten of the Lions Club baskets. He received his tickets from Henryetta Eye Center.
Second place, amounting to $1,340, went to Dorothy Henzberg who shopped at United Furniture to get a refrigerator. She said she will use the money to pay off that purchase.
The third place ticket, 027426, was received by a Henryetta Dental customer. Madden said that ticket has yet to be produced. "The winning ticket holder must present the ticket by December 21 by 3 p.m.," Madden said. "A new winning number will be posted after that time if a winner does not come forward with the winning ticket."
