Okmulgee County voters wanting to cast ballots in the March 1 Presidential Primary have a week to get registered.
According to Ashley Carnes, county election board secretary, the Feb. 5 deadline includes anyone who wants to change their names, address or political party.

New this year is the decision by the Oklahoma democratic party to allow independents to vote in their primary elections. "All independent voters now have an option to vote a democratic ballot for 2016 and 2017," said Carnes. "Independents may request only a Democratic ballot at their polling place if interested in voting in the primary."
Registered voters have until Wednesday, Feb. 24 to apply for an Absentee Ballot. They may do so in person at the County Election Board office or send their applications by mail, fax or email. "Those aapplications can be downloaded from the State Election Board website or picked up in our office," Carnes added.
On the democratic ballot for the Presidential Primary are: Martin J. O'Malley, Star Locke, Michael A. Steinberg, Bernie Sanders, Keith Judd, Hillary Clinton and Roque De La Fuente.
Making up the republican ballot are: John R. Kasich, Donald J. Trump, rand Paul, carly Fiorina, Marco Rubio, Rick Santorum, Ted Cruz, Jeb Bush, Chris Christie, Mike Huckabee, Ben Carson and Lindsey Graham.
