Almost two years exactly have passed since a grass fire swept across the fields and wooded area north of Henryetta. This Thursday afternoon the flames blackened several hundred acres of land starting at Conifer Road and raced toward Henryetta.
Firefighters from Henryetta, Wilson, Dewar and Schulter were on hand to control the blaze.
At one point the flames licked around several oil storage tanks and pumping units but there were not damaged.
The thick smoke covered US 75 forcing drivers to use extra caution when driving through it.
The same area burned in 2014 with the fire reaching Warden Camp Road.
A red flag warning has been in effect for the past two days making it illegal for anyone to start any fires.
