| Firefighters from Plainview, Okemah, Wilson and Schulter banded together to fight a fast-moving range fire Sunday afternoon. The blaze started northeast of Weletka and quickly spread over 1,000 acres. Several houses and barns were threatened by the flames but firemen were able to keep them from igniting. The fire was fanned by a strong southernly wind that had gusts reaching nearly 30 miles per hour. |
