With one day still left in the filing period, candidates are placing their names in contention for county, state and federal offices.
Two candidates have filed for the Okmulgee County sheriff's job but that is causing a controversy with a protest filed.
Incumbent Eddy Rice announced his candidacy on opening day Wednesday then Chris Jason Baumann filed for the same position. That led to Rice filing a protest claiming Baumann has not been an Okmulgee County resident for the required six months prior to filing.  The protest is scheduled to be heard in district court April 28.
Also filing four county jobs are: Robert Hardridge, incumbent for District 2 county commissioner; Becky Thomas, incumbent for county clerk and Liz Frost for court clerk.
The District 16 state representative seat has drawn seven candidates.
They include Democrats: Anna Dearmore, Okmulgee, Brenda S. Golden, Okmulgee, and Ronnie Kell, Boynton; Republicans: Scott Fetgatter, Okmulgee, James Bo Delso, Henryetta, Charles Kanada, Henryetta and Doug Longnecker, Broken Arrow.
All are going after the seat currently held by Jerry Shoemake that is being vacated because of term limits.
So far, incumbent Steve Kouplen is the only candidate for the Distrist 24 state representative position.
The District 2 congressional seat has Westville incumbent Markwayne Mullin and Jarrin jackson, Claremore filing as republicans and Paul E. Schiefelbein, Tahlequah, filing as a democrat.
