David Dewayne Kennedy of Henryetta, died May 7, 2016 in Tulsa. He was 79 years old. Dewayne was born March 7, 1937 in Hanna to John David Kennedy and Velma Reed Kennedy.
Dewayne grew up in Hanna, attended Hanna Public Schools, and later met and married his wife of 58 years, Florence Nadine Free. From that marriage they had one son, Terry. Dewayne made his home in Hanna for many years. Dewayne worked for the State of Oklahoma and later retired after many years of faithful service with the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority. Dewayne was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hanna, a longtime member of the Henryetta Masonic Lodge, and served for four years on the Hanna School Board.
Dewayne is preceded in death by his mother and father; his wife, Nadine who passed away in November of 2014; a sister, Mildred Ilene McCullar; and a brother, Homer Dale Kennedy.
He is survived by his son, Terry Kennedy; a grandson, David Kennedy; three granddaughters: Kyla Kaitlyn, and Taylor; a sister, Merlene Allison; and several nieces and nephews; by other extended family and many good friends.
Viewing for Dewayne will be held Tuesday, May 10, 2016 from 5 until 8 p.m. at Integrity Funeral Service and Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Integrity Funeral Service from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m.
A funeral service for Dewayne will be held Thursday, May 12, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Integrity Chapel. A masonic service will be provided by the Tulledega Lodge of Henryetta. Interment will follow immediately at Hanna Cemetery in Hanna under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
Pallbearers will be Troy Withrow, Roy Stewart, Don Maddox, Bill Barden, Sonny Nestor, and Charlie Grisham. Honorary pallbearers will be Skip McCullar, Jackie McCullar, Felix Adamo, Gary Holden, Warren G. Bogle, and Kently McCullar.
