HHS senior Daisy VanMeter has some more gold after three wins at the state track meet Saturday.
VanMeter broke the tape in the 800, 1600 and 3200 meter runs coming close to breaking state record times in each.
She finished the 800 meter in 2:17.38. That record was 2:14.9 set back in 2005. The 5:17.29 time she turned in for the 1600 meter run was close to the 11:04.29 state record set in 2006. In the 3200 meter run, she clocked 11 minutes 37.29 seconds. In 2006 the state championship record was set at 11:04.29.
The Lady Knights relay team of VanMeter, Mya Powders, Holly Stuart and Kaitlyn Clark placed fifth. Kaitlyn Clark was 12th in the 800 meter run and Brittany Elam won fifth in the pole vault with 8 feet, six inches.
