Lorene Fry Sumka died at home, June 10, 2016, at the age of 86. She was born Jan. 7, 1930 to Sandy and Ella Fry. She was baptized March 27, 1945. Lorene was a member of Hickory Ground #2 Indian Baptist Church and a lifetime member of Yardeka Community. She attended school at Haskell Indian Institute, Lawrence, Kans.
She was preceded in death by: parents Sandy and Ella Fry; husband Foster Sumka; son Terry Sumka; two brothers Buster and Sandy Fry, Jr.; one sister Nettie Fry Harjo; and two great grandchildren.
She is survived by three daughters and five sons; daughter Janet and husband Pastor Sidney Lee of Henryetta; son Jerry Sumka and wife Rachael of Henryetta; son Kenneth Sumka of home; son Wayne Sumka and wife Lena of Shawnee; daughter Loretta Sumka of Henryetta; daughter Ann Sumka of home; son Mark Sumka of Henryetta; son Foster Sumka, Jr. and wife Reva of Tulsa. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren; two brothers Roley Fry and Johnson Fry of Henryetta and Bobby Fry of Okmulgee; six sisters: Rosie Bruner, Alice Fields, Sue Harley, Martha Fry, and Bertha Fry all of Henryetta and Anne Kelley of Glenpool.
Wake service will be held at Hickory Ground #2 Indian Baptist Church, Monday, June 13, 2016, at 7:30 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the church, Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. She will be laid to rest at Fry Family Cemetery, located in the Yardeka Community, under the direction of Rogers Funeral Home.
Rev. Mitchell Taylor will be officiating and pallbearers will be Sam Lee, Sandy Lee, Jeffrey Sumka, David Walker, J.D. Sumka and Emmanuel Fry.
