Goodner has been spearheading an effort to include some 90 more names of area servicemen killed in action. Currently, the plaque bears the names of 84 people but does not reflect the casualties of both Iraq and Afghanistan.
"We have raised over $2,000 now and have four fundraisers planned this summer," he told council members.
Those include a July 9 donation booth at Walmart, July 23 golf tournament, possible bean dinner at the American Legion and benefit yard sale July 15 and 16.
Goodner said he wants to unveil the new plaque on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, 2016. "That means we must place the order by Sept. 15."
The plaque would include four more names of World War One casualties, 114 added for World War Two, 18 from the Korean Conflict, 17 in Vietnam and four from the Iraq operations.goodner check lions
Adding the names would extend the plaque by another foot in length and cost around $4,600.
Most recent donations include the American Exchange Bank and Henryetta Lions Club.
