Sam Harold Scully, a resident of Coalton, died July 15, 2015 in Tulsa at the age of 84. Sam was born Aug. 26, 1931 to Thomas and Bertha (Sloan) Scully in Coalton. He married his only sweet heart, Juanita Jane Corbin Aug. 31, 1954, at the First Baptist Church in Checotah, Oklahoma. Sam was a United States Veteran proudly serving with the United States Army and was a Member of the Tulledega Masonic Lodge. He was a life-long member of the First Baptist Church of Dewar. He worked for the Frisco/Burlington Northern Railroad from the age of 16 after convincing the boss he was 21 years of age. Sam retired as a conductor in 1990.
Sam is preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Bertha, two brothers Jim and John Scully, his daughter Rebecca Scully Collett and Grandson Donny Collett.
Sam is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Juanita Scully; daughter Sammie Dixon of Tulsa and two sons: Eddie of Tulsa and John of Oklahoma City; four grandchildren: Adam, Ashley, Kaity and Katelynsam; and three great grandchildren: Shawn, Gabe and Olivia.
Viewing for Sam will begin Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. and again Tuesday from 8 a.m. until noon.
Pallbearers will be Agents of The Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tom Scully, Jim Scully, Tim Scully, Sam Deere, Richard Carter & Benny Gooden.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at Dewar First Baptist Church with Rev. Jack Vance, officiating. Interment will follow in Okmulgee Cemetery under direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
