Longtime Henryetta businessman Ron McAfee was the guest of honor at a surprise birthday party Sunday afternoon.
ron mcafeeMcAfee, who has been in the electronics business for over 60 years, found himself surrounded by family and friends a the special come-an-go party at the Masonic Lodge. A catered meal was served.
The Dewar graduate started out in the television business working for other local businesses.
He and partner Bud Gaither started B&R Television in the early 1950s. First located at the intersection of Fifth and Broadway, the business later moved to Eighth and Main. Later, the two became involved in the fledgling cable television industry.
After closing down the television business, McAfee worked in communications with cell phones as well as equipping area businesses with complete telephone systems.
McAfee is one of the oldest continually-operating businessmen in Henryetta, sharing that honor with Phil Agee at Burnett Furniture. He is a member of the Henryetta Lions Club and has been named Henryettan Of The year.
