The next phase of work at the Dr. Carlton Smith Tennis Courts was completed Thursday morning as the cement floor was poured for the pavilion.
pavilion concreteWorkers spent the first part of the week installing a sidewalk between the pavilion area and setting the support posts.
The metal cover for the 48-foot long, 24-foot wide pavilion is being fabricated and will be installed in another three weeks. The work is not expected to be completed by Labor Day although the tennis association is looking into the posibility of a tournament that weekend.tennis pavilion
The ground around the pavilion area will receive some landscaping work to provide visiting teams with a place to gather while waiting for their turns on the courts.
Still ahead will be construction of restroom facilities. That building will be placed just to the south and east of the pavilion.
The work has been underway on the tennis courts for the past year with most of hte funding coming from private donations.
