Even though State Representative candidate Anna Dearmore carried more precincts than Ronnie Kell in Okmulgee County, it wasn't enough to win her the runoff election Tuesday.
kellKell had large gains in the northeastern part of the county as well as Muskogee County to win a spot in the November general election.
Kell received 573 total votes while Dearmore picked up 429 throughout the entire three-county district.
Dearmore led in the balloting at the Uganda Martyrs Church, Okmulgee Middle School, Jubilee Christian Center, Nazarene, Presbyterian and Calvary Baptist churches as well as East Central Electric, OSUIT Student Union, Eastside school and Henryetta American Legion.
By contrast, Kell carried the Henryetta city hall and Methodist church as well as Grayson, Morris, Twin Hills, Liberty Baptist, Schulter senior center and Southside Baptist. The largest vote difference came in Morris where Kell received 100 votes compared to 9 for Dearmore.
He also carried Muskogee County by a 64-24 margin and won 28-18 in Wagoner County.
The question over the Public Service franchise election in Dewar was approved by a 56-2 margin.
