June Elizabeth Matthews, a resident of Henryetta, died Sept. 3, 2016 in Henryetta at the age of 87. She was born Sept. 9, 1928 in Henryetta to Samuel Daniel Hammack and Pearl Elizabeth (Nation) Hammack.
She was a graduate of Okmulgee High School and attended college in San Antonio, Texas. She married Garland Huffman June 21, 1958 in Lincoln, Nebraska. After his death in 1973, she married Deroy Matthews June 17, 1975 in Henryetta. She worked for David Wilemon Oil Co. as secretary for 15 years, retiring in 1990.
She had resided in Lincoln for 15 years, Dewar for two years and in rural Henryetta for 25 years before moving to Crystal Springs Retirement Center until Deroy's death.
She was a longtime member of the Dewar United Pentecostal Church where she was a faithful servant working as Sunday School Secretary for many years as well as other various capacities.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Pearl Hammack, her first husband, Garland Huffman, her second husband, Deroy Matthews, brothers, Johnny Hammack, Guy Hammack and wife Lucille, sisters, Ethel Ann Shew and husband Bill, Willene Crossland and husband Al.
She is survived by four stepsons: Joe Huffman, Sr. and wife Deloris of Lincoln, Jack Matthews and wife Nelda of Ada, Donald Matthews and wife Pam of Henryetta and Tommy Matthews, Sr. and wife Evie of Woodward; grandchildren: Annette Huffman Evans and husband Stuart, Joey Huffman, Matthew Huffman, Justin Matthews, Nathan Matthews, Curtis Matthews, Brooke Matthews, Tommy Matthews, Jr., and Alex Matthews;  several great grandchildren; sister Ruby Isaksson and husband Egon of Hope, British Columbia, Canada; sister-in-law, Margaret Hammack of Dewar. as well as a host of nieces, nephews, friends and her beloved church family.
Viewing will be Tuesday, September 8, 2016 from 2 to 8 p.m. at Integrity Funeral Service.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, September 9, 2016 at Dewar United Pentecostal Church with Rev. Matthew Martin, Rev. Gregg Joki and Rev. Joe Huffman, Sr., officiating. Interment will follow in New Sonora Cemetery under direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
