Henryetta's Main Street was packed Monday as thousands turned out for the annual Eastern Oklahoma Labor Day celebration.
A nearly 2-hour-long parade featured bands, clowns, cars and floats carrying on a tradition that dates back nearly 80 years. It was a day for the youngsters as they raced their turtles and frogs then splashed around to grab onto some fish for the annual scramble. The turtle race saw Chason Friar's entry place first followed by Boston Williams in second and Greathouse in third.
In the frog jumping competition, Ethan Gold was first place winner with Max Martin capturing second and Eddie Foster in third.
The day started with a pancake breakfast at the Tulledega Masonic Lodge then visitors started lining the streets. After the parade, a series of games were held at the baseball field.
For many, the First Family Federal Credit Union car and bike show was a highlight. Everything from a 1920s touring car to some familiar muscle cars were displayed and gleaming in the September sun.
Each of the parade entries were competing for trophies and prize money courtesy of the various trade unions that have kept the Henryetta event alive.
