For the second time in a week crews installing underground cables struck utility lines.
The most recent was between the Henryetta high school and middle school buildings.
A water line going into the high school building was punctured cancelling classes Friday afternoon and sending students home at noon.
Only the high school was affected. Classes maintained their regular schedule in both the middle school and elementary school buildings.
The project there is part of the STEM building work.
gas leakEarlier in the week underground cable installation had to be stopped when a gas line was punctured.
That break on Industrial, just west of US 75, caused six homes to be evacuated as well as closed down several businesses.
It took gas company workers several hours to repair the break.
At one point, natural gas escaping form the line could be seen bubbling up in a pond.
“We were fortunate that there was a south wind blowing steadily throughout the afternoon,” said fire chief David Bullard. “That helped disperse the gas.”
Crews were worried about the leaking gas escaping into a sewer line that ran along Industrial.
