new vests

The Henryetta police department received six protective vests courtesy of the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs.
Valued at $1,850 each, the vests are an extra measure of protection when officers have to enter a building or confront a dangerous suspect.
Bureau director John Scully along with other members of his department made the presentation Monday afternoon. A Coalton native, Scully said he was especially pleased to make the donation to law enforcement officers in his home county.
"We know that some officers have bought their own but this is something they need to have through the departments."
Scully hinted that a donation of ballistic helmets may be made in the coming months.
"This is something that our officers can use," said police chief Steve Norman. "There are times that, even though the police are wearing protective vests, they need something additional."
