For the second consecutive month, Henryetta’s sales tax receipts were less than a year ago.
The October disbursement from the Oklahoma Tax Commission amounted to $215,634, a decline of $969.33 from the previous year.
Since last January, the town has had four months of lower sales tax receipts than 2015. To date this year, $2,263,180 has been received from the state compared with $2,164,753 from a year ago. That slight year to date increase was bolstered by a nearly $40,000 gain reported in August. The August return was an all-time high for the town.
Offsetting some of the October loss was the $21,866 received in use tax revenue. That was $11,200 above the October 2015 amount of $10,486.
For October, the Okmulgee County treasurer picked up a $500,515 check from the state, slightly more than $3,000 above the 2015 return.
Statewide, $136,131,860 in sales tax collections was returned to 514 cities and towns reflecting a decrease of $3,563,662 from the $139,695,522 distributed to 514 cities and towns in October last year.
