William Andrew "Pete" Britt, a longtime residence of Hoffman, died Nov. 7, 2016 in Okemah at the age of 81. He was born March 5, 1935 in Hanna to Charlie and Ishmael (Jones) Britt. He married Betty Ann Kidwell on May 27, 1954.
Pete was a cattle rancher as well as a bus driver for Hoffman Schools and later Dewar Public Schools. He retired from Oklahoma State University at Okmulgee as grounds maintenance keeper after 20 years.
He and Betty are longtime members of the Hoffman First Baptist Church.
Pete is preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Jeremy Britt, two sisters, Lillie Thompson Shockley and Mary McCarroll, also by four brothers, Junior Britt, Kenneth Britt, Curt Britt and Jack Britt.
He is survived by his wife Betty of Okemah; daughter, Ann Rutland of Okemah; son, Darrell Britt of Hoffman; eight grandchildren: Allen Cindle and wife Christy of Okemah, Scott Cindle and wife Denise of Paden, Renee Baldridge and husband Les of Seminole, Lacrisha Buoy and husband Travis of Morris, Dane Britt and wife Destry of Poteau, Kyle Britt and wife Micah of Poteau and Dallas Wallace of Hoffman; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Linda Burney of Tiger Mountain; three brothers: Johnny Britt and wife Drucella of Henryetta, Ira Britt and wife Britt Carolyn of Hoffman and Duke Britt and wife Annabel of Dewar; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.
Pallbearers will be, Dane Britt, Kyle Britt, Scott Cindle and Allen Cindle.
Viewing will be Wednesday, Nov. 9 from 2 to 8 p.m. at Integrity Funeral Service.
A funeral service is scheduled for 2 p.m., Thursday, November 10, 2016 at Dewar First Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Hoffman Cemetery under direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
