A three-day filing period will be held Dec. 19 through Dec. 13 to fill an unexpired term on the Henryetta school board.
The office 4 position that is currently held by Casey Jones will be open. Jones was appointed last year after the original board member, James Cox, resigned leaving a two-year term still left.
According to Okmulgee County election board secretary Ashley Carnes, candidates living within the Henryetta school district can fill between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. each day.
The election will be held at the school election Feb. 14, 2017. In the event more than one candidate files and does not receive more than 50 percent of the total votes, a run-off election will be held April 4.
Candidates may pick up Declaration of Candidacy forms from the Okmulgee County Election Board Office or may download them from the State Election Board’s website.
