Ray Morton, a longtime resident of rural Henryetta, died Dec. 21, 2016 in rural Henryetta at the age of 85. Ray was born July 28, 1931 in Eufaula to Frank Morton and Noma Calvert Morton. Ray grew up in the in the Eufaula and Dewar area and attended school at Dewar School.
Ray married the love of his life, Geneva Delores Allen Nov. 22, 1956 in Tijuana, Mexico. Ray was a co-founder of Morton Manufacturing in California. Since that time beginning in 1973, Ray has owned and operated Morton Grinding Works machine shop in Henryetta where he was a master machinist . Ray was an active rancher who loved raising cattle and chickens. Ray is preceded in death by his wife, Delores; his mother and father; his two brothers, Wallace Morton and Roger Morton; two sisters, Bonnie Wassenauer and Wanda Cox; and a grandson, Wesley Larney.
He is survived by his two sons: Dennis Morton of Broken Arrow and Clay Morton and wife Rhonda of Henryetta; daughter, Lisa Morton Johnson and husband Kevin of Okmulgee; six grandchildren: Chris Morton, Cole Larney and wife Samantha Larney, Josh Morton, Amanda Morton, Adam Morton, and Garret Morton; great grandchildren: Elizabeth Morton, Emily Morton, Maykala Morton, and Attisyn Larney; sister in law Yolanda Morton; also by several nieces and nephews; and a host of cousins and other extended family, and many good friends.
Viewing for Ray will be held Monday, December 26, 2016 from 2 until 8 p.m. at Integrity Funeral Service in Henryetta.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Integrity Chapel. A committal service will follow immediately at Westlawn Cemetery under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service.
Pallbearers will be Cole Larney, Danny Maxwell, Darren Unruah, Bryan King, Clay Morton, and Dennis Morton. Honorary bearers will be Gary McGowin and Sam Holloway.
