Catherine Lahoma Ellig, a former resident of Henryetta and current resident of Okemah, died Dec. 26, 2016 in an Okemah nursing home at the age of 90. Catherine was born April 30, 2936 in Weleetka to Michael Harrelson and Myra Banta Harrelson. Catherine grew up and attended school in Weleetka.
Catherine married the love of her life, Manning Ellig in 1946 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. Catherine became a homemaker and took care of the family home until 1956. Catherine and her husband and family lived primarily in the Shawnee and Tecumseh area where she had several jobs working as a waitress and a nursing home attendent. Catherine went to work for K-Mart in Shawnee in 1983 and faithfully worked for the following 23 years before she retired. She was a lifetime member of the Assembly of God Church in Weleetka, but attended The Assembly of God Church in both Henryetta and in Shawnee.
She is preceded in death by her husband Manning; her mother and father; her daughter, Cathy Satawake; a son, Jeffrey Manning Ellig; five brothers and three sisters; and a great great grandson, Hayden McCrae.
Catherine is survived by her daughter, Becky Culver and husband Bill of Henryetta; six grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, other extended family and many good friends.
Arrangements and cremation services have been entrusted to Integrity Funeral Service of Henryetta. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
