After graduation in May, Henryetta high school senior Rachel Montgomery will be heading to Boot Camp.
Montgomery, the daughter of Alan and Dana Montgomery, enlisted in the Oklahoma Army National Guard as a technical engineer.
That enlistment will start with 10 weeks in basic training then relocating to Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri. At the Army Engineering School she will be learning auto CAD drafting and land surveying.
Once the training is completed, Montgomery will be attending monthly National Guard meetings as well as a two-week summer training camp.
She plans to attend OSU Stillwater and pursue an Architecture Degree. That will be aided by 100 percent free tuition, the GI Bill as well as monthly drill pay. The first three years of her service contract will keep her in a non-deployable status.
She is shown taking the military oath of service with National Guard recruiter SFC John Delso.
