Okmulgee police are now offering a $5,000 reward for information that can help solve a nearly month-old murder.
Okmulgee police chief Joe Prentice said the reward was approved by the Oklahoma reward System this week to find the people responsible for the death of Kimberly Lyons-Anderson Dec. 26.
She was shot and killed outside the American Legion building in Okmulgee following a party. Investigators say shots were fired toward the building where people were gathered. When the shooting stopped, the victim was found shot once in the chest.
A number of 40 caliber shell casings had been recovered at the scene but a bullet from a smaller caliber weapon was recovered during the autopsy.
“We have conducted over 50 interviews of people at the event and still have no viable suspects,” the chief said.
Numerous names have been given to officers and the chief said there have been a number of various stories circulating on social media. “We need an eye witness to the crime,” he added.
Anyone with information about the shooting should call Okmulgee police at 918-756-3511. All tips will be kept confidential.
