A passenger in a vehicle being chased by Okmulgee County deputies and Okmulgee police was shot in the neck Wednesday afternoon.
OSBI investigators say Amanda Morrow was shot as Michael David Sanchez was trying to drive around police vehicles near Fourth and Taylor in Okmulgee.
The incident was said to have started shortly after 3 p.m. when deputies tried to buy some items from Sanchez outside the Okmulgee Walmart.
Sanchez, 32, was said to have driven away at a high rate of speed going through several residential neighborhoods. He was finally stopped at the Taylor Drive Apartments.
As Sanchez tried to get around officers’ vehicles, one officer fired striking Morrow in the neck. She was flown to a Tulsa hospital for treatment.
Sanchez was arrested for violation of probation and is facing more charges.
Because the shooting involved a police officer, the OSBI was brought in to investigate.
