The VanMeter family enjoys being outdoors and spending time together. Parents April and Mike keep the family active in their church and their faith has kept them grounded. Unfortunately, they recently lost their home to a fire, and have had to live in mobile home next to their church since February. To help rebuild their lives, they’re raising money through RedBasket.org.
On February 27, April heard a noise outside and saw that their four-wheeler had caught fire. A few things were able to be salvaged, but by the time help was on the way, the fire had spread to the house. The children’s rooms were completely ruined, and the rest of the home was damaged by smoke and water.
The mobile home where they live now is about half the size of their previous home, but they are adjusting to their new space and thankful for the help of their neighbors. Now, the VanMeters are focusing on rebuilding their home.
“People have been so generous, and God has provided many things, but we are still concerned about the future and how we will rebuild and replace our home,” said April.
The family hopes to raise $15,500 through RedBasket.org to help purchase new furniture and other appliances that were lost in the fire and not covered by insurance. The fundraiser will be online through May 31. To learn more or to make a tax-deductible donation, visit https://redbasket.org/1270/fresh-start-for-the-vanmeter-family.
