Henryetta fought off a late-game rally to pull out a 12-10 win against the Kellyville Ponies Monday.
The HHS Dirtbags jumped off to a 7-run lead in the first inning, boosting that by additional runs in the third and fourth frames. The Ponies were able to pick up a pair of runs in the third.
The real threat came in the fifth when Henryetta gave up five runs on a pair of walks tied in with two singles and a double. Both teams scored three runs in the sixth then HHS pitcher Cade Furer struck out three of the four Pony batters in the seventh for the win.
Henryetta had nine hits during the game with eight of them counting as RBIs.
The second game of the Monday double-header saw Henryetta take a 10-0 loss to the Beggs Golden Demons.
Beggs scored all 10 runs in the third inning.
A first inning double by Furer had the HHS hopes raised but he was stranded with two outs at first and a strikeout.The Dirtbags only got one other runner on base after that. Beggs fanned out ten HHS batters.
The team heads to Rattan this weekend for that annual tournament. They return to the HHS field Monday afternoon.
