police wreck

A Weleetka police officer was injured in a crash Friday afternoon north and east of that town.
The OHP said officer Charles Starkey, sr., 47, was the driver of a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe that crashed around 3:15 p.m.
Starkey and an Okfuskee County Sheriff’s deputy, Charles Starkey Jr., 27, were said to be going to help another law enforcement unit on a traffic stop when the accident happened.
Trooper Mike Choate said the Tahoe was eastbound on EA 1140 Road and the 2005 Tahoe driven by Starkey, jr., was westbound in the middle of the roadway. As both vehicles approached the crest of a hill, the elder Starkey was said to have swerved to miss the deputy’s car. He went off the roadway and struck a corner post and rolled over two and one half times.
The 47-year-old Starkey was flown to St. Francis hospital in Tulsa in stable condition with arm injuries.
