The 4th annual “Crystal Run” will be held in Okemah Feb. 22 at 1 p.m. The event is held each year as a major fundraiser for Okemah’s historic “Crystal Theatre”.
Last year the run drew 275 runners from seven states. Funds from the event are used to maintain and operate the theater that was built in 1921.
It currently shows first run movies and serves as a music venue for the Woody Guthrie Celebration each July.
This year, entrants will receive a “tech style” shirt with an artist’s rendering of the fOkemah water towers. The design was created by Tulsa artist and designer, Keith Whitfield.
Prior to the 5K run, a 1K Fun Run will be held. Participants in both events will receive the t-shirt and goody bag. Entrants are welcome to run, jog, or walk. Cost to enter the 5K prior to Feb. 14 will be $25 and the Fun Run is $15.
After that date, the cost increases $5 for each event. The Fun Run begins at 1 p.m. and the 5K begins at 1:30 in front of the Crystal Theatre at 401 West Broadway.
