A Schulter man escaped injuries when the semi he was riding in crashed Tuesday afternoon south of Checotah.
Cody James Mahan, 30, was a passenger in a 1996 Peterbilt driven by James Mahan, 55, Okemah, that was struck by another semi a mile south of Checotah.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the crash happened when a 2014 semi driven by Jim Lee Reynolds, was eastbound on a county road and turned into the path of the Mahan truck.
Reynolds was thrown from the truck and was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries he sustained in the crash.
Neither of the occupants of the other truck were hurt.
According to OHP Trooper Harold Collins, Reynolds apparently failed to stop at a stop sign.
