Henryetta price were instrumental in recovering a vehicle allegedly stolen in Kansas March 27.
galThe pursuit started when officer Jeff Webster saw a vehicle matching the description of a 2017 Dodge Journey that was stolen in Winfield, Kansas last month.
A bulletin released about the theft says the subjects involved were believed to have used a stolen credit card in Kansas and passed a stolen check in Blackwell.guy
When Webster tried to pull over the vehicle, it sped up and went south on US 75 before turning west onto I-40. When the driver got to the exit west of town, the vehicle left the interstate, turned around then got back on the highway headed east.
Speeds reached 115 miles per hour from Henryetta to the 263 mile marker where the vehicle went into the center median.
Officers surrounded the vehicle with guns drawn and took the two people into custody with no incidents.
Both occupants, a man and a woman, were brought to the Henryetta police department where they were placed into jail cells.
“We were fortunate that no one was injured in this chase,” said police chief Steve Norman. “At those speeds it would not have taken much for a car to get out of control and crash, possibly involving other motorists.”
The two arrested were Kyle Allen Guthrie, 29, and Decima Straub, 37.
Guthrie was booked into the Okmulgee County jail on complaints of eluding an officer, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and driving under suspension. Straub was booked for unauthorized used of a motor vehicle and on a felony warrant out of Kansas.
