Henryetta's sales tax took a large dip in April, the largest single month loss in the past five years.
The sales tax return to the city in April was $210,237.99, down $9,332 from the same month a year ago. Prior to that, the largest dip came in 2010 when the town received $190,580, a loss of $14,468 from the 2009 return.
That decline mimicked the statewide decline for the month. Statewide, $125,372,104 in sales tax collections was returned to 513 cities and towns reflecting a decrease of $3,558,316 from the $128,930,420 distributed to 510 cities and towns in April last year.
Around the area, Okmulgee's city return amounted to $283,161.97, an increase of $3,903 while Okemah's city return was up nearly $7,000 from a year ago.
The April distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commission primarily represents local tax receipts from February business.
