A Henryetta woman was flown to the Hillcrest burn center in Tulsa following a house fire shortly after noon Tuesday.
Paula Kay Walton is said to have suffered third degree burns when her home on East Merrick caught fire. Two children in the house were able to escape without injury but several pets died as a result of the smoke.
According to Henryetta fire chief David Bullard, Walton was apparently overcome by the smoke and collapsed on the kitchen floor. Police Chief Steve Norman and Det. Robert Heath were able to break down the door and pull her to safety under a carport.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
