A wild pitch gave the Lady Knights the advantage they needed to take win number 20 at Morris Monday.
The game was tied up 3-3 in the seventh inning when Brooklyn Baughman hit a grounder to second but a bad throw to first put her on first. A ground out by Autumn Blackbear allowed Baughman to get to third in scoring position. She took advantage of that when a pitch to Skylar Morris went wild allowing Morris to come home for the winning run.
Henryetta took the lead initially in the top of the fifth when Jaylynn Joslin, Kasedi Gobin and Avery Miller loaded up the bases with singles.
Baughman drew a walk scoring Joslin then Blackbear singled sending Gobin home. The bases remained loaded when Morris hit a line drive out to shortstop.With one out, Katelyn Dwiggins walked scoring Miller putting Henryetta ahead 3-0.
The Lady Eagles picked up two runs on a fly ball driving in two runners in the bottom of the fifth. The tying run came an inning later on a double by Morris.
Avery Miller struck out six Morris batters, walked two and allowed one run on three hits. That seat her season record at 141 strikeouts out of 120 innings pitched, She has given up 81 hits for a .180 ERA.
That win followed on the heels of a 3-2, eight-inning victory over Prague Saturday.
The Prague girls got on the board first in the fourth inning but Henryetta came back in the seventh to tie it at 2-all. A walk-off single by Katelyn Dwiggins in the bottom of the eighth gave Henryetta the win.
The win over Morris put Henryetta at 2-03 for the regular season and 9-0 in district play. Beggs remains in first with 19 wins and five losses for the season and 1–0 in district. Morris now has 11 wins and 12 losses for the year and three wins against six district losses.
