Cavins Construction will be replacing the floor at the high school gym.
The Norman-based company was awarded the project Thursday morning at a special Henryetta school board meeting.
Cavins was the low bidder on the project with a base bid of $250,000. Work is projected to take 120 days. The only other bid came from ServPro of South Tulsa bidding in at $483,810.59. ServPro did the demolition and removal of the floor after a burst pipe flooded the gym.
The floor replacement is tentatively set to start in about a week. When finished, basketball fans will see a lighter floor with the Knight logo painted in the center and wider black out of bound lines around the edges. The work includes replacing the wood floor under the folding bleachers.
The original estimate for floor replacement was $425,000.
Board members also approved letting superintendent Dwayne Noble negotiate on the replacement of drywall, insulation and flooring in the offices and locker rooms. Cavins submitted a bid of $39,400 for the job while ServPro bid the work at $32,000.
Until the new floor is in place, basketball games will be played at the old gymnasium in the high school building.
