weleetka ambulance

The Weleetka-Graham EMS has already added another ambulance to the fleet this past week.  The new van-style ambulance will enable the service to provide another EMS crew and more pre-hospital medical care coverage. The service is operating out of its facility on Weleetka's Main Street.
This week the Weleetka-Graham EMS presented the New Age Nutrition Center in Weleetka with an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). It is designed to perform in any environment and can be used by professional or lay rescuers.
Purchased through a grant from LA Gear, the AED will include training for three people at the center.
This Saturday an EMR training program will be held in Weleetka.
According to EMS director Joe Williams, the training program is phase one of a 4 phase approach to provide a better public access system.
“The paperwork has already started to be filed at the state level for an Okfuskee county Wide Emergency Medical Responder Agency. This will be a system that any fire department can take part in if they want to and they can become a part of the new system in place,” he said.
Currently in Weleetka there is no state registered Emergency Medical Responder in Weleetka. Fire Departments in surrounding areas like Plainview, Salem, Wilson, and many other outlying areas have showed a interest in being a part of this training and system.
