Two people died and three others are in critical condition following a two-vehicle collision Sunday afternoon east of Hitchita on US 266.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers are investigating the cause of the crash that claimed the lives of Erwin and Janet Christensen, both 62 years old of Bristow. Injured in the crash were Courtney Stanton, 28, Morris and two children aged three and four years old. All three have been taken to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa in critical condition.
OHP Trooper Tim Baker said a 2016 Chevrolet Equinox was being driven by Stanton when it went across the center line striking the 2006 Volkswagen Jetta driven by Erwin Christensen head on.
Both of the Jetta occupants were pronounced dead at the scene from numerous injuries.
The OHP said everyone was using seatbelt except the driver of the Equinox.
