The trip from behind a steering wheel to the pulpit was a journey new Henryetta First Christian Church pastor Jarrod Dumond says was worth it.
The Wagoner native had been a typical young husband and father of two said that decision was, "illogical," but not regretted.
He had been an oil field worker then decided to become a truck driver. After training in Tulsa, he said he was driving through New Mexico when he began praying.
"God gave me a vision. I saw this church," he said pointing to the brick sanctuary that has stood for nearly 100 years at Fifth and Cummings.
"I thought I had my life together but God hand another plan for me."

His grandfather, Carl Tennea, had been the pastor at the church for several years but had to slow down due to health issues.
"I talked to him (Carl) and he asked me what I was running from. I decided to take a leap of faith."
Dumond talked it over with his wife Christy, and they came to the conclusion it was the right thing to do.
Even though he was not an ordained minister, he started conducting services earlier this year.
The church board gave their blessings this spring and the full membership recently voted to let him lead the church.
This year the church has started a Wednesday night Bible study and family night on Thursdays. There is even a special Saturday night praise and worship time set aside.
There are plans to add special youth services in the church annex with music, games and events. The youth aspect will be appealing to his 15-year-old son Morgan and seven-year-old daughter Taelyn.
Those changes have had a positive impact on the church this year.
"Our average attendance in December was 27 and now it is 47," he says with pride.
