For a number of years, noted Henryetta blacksmith and metal worker Dee Boone was celebrated with a festival in town.
The event, “Dee Boone Days” was a hit with young and old and drew in visitors from all over the state as well as neighboring states.
It finally came to an end after problems keeping volunteers to help with the organization.
The Chamber of Commerce is trying to see if there is any interest in bringing back the program that would feature Cowboy & Western collectibles, art and entertainment as well as craftsmanship demonstrations, educational programs, chuck wagon Dutch oven cooking competition, and more.
“We would like to see a chamber member or civic organization or even a dedicated individual to spearhead the project,” said chamber of commerce executive director Roy Madden.
“This brought a lot to the town in the way of tourism and entertainment and is something that could become a great event.”
He said anyone or any group that wants to be a part of Dee Boone Days or would be willing to take it on as a project to contact the chamber office.
