A rollover car wreck ended an early morning chase by Henryetta police Monday.
According to police chief Steve Norman, officer Paul Brown, jr., was trying to stop a car at Second and Cummings around 4 a.m. The driver refused to stop turning onto Merrick then going up Third Street hill.

pistolsThat pursuit reached speeds over 80 miles per hour north, going past Conifer Road. Chief Norman said the driver, Billy Rowell from Vian, turned his lights off in an attempt to elude officer Brown. That resulted in Rowell going out of control then running off the road and hitting an embankment. he car rolled over one time.
Rowell was taken to Hillcrest Henryetta hospital and admitted for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash.
“Rowell is a convicted felon and had two loaded pistols in the vehicle,” Norman said. The driver is also wanted on two felony no bond warrants from Sequoyah County.
“This could have been a dangerous situation when you have a wanted felon with two hand guns in the car,” Norman said.
