This week three decades of insuring area residents will be coming to an end for Teresa Moore.
She plans to hang up her computer and do some traveling Friday calling an end to her longtime affiliation with State Farm Insurance.
That affiliation began when she went to work with Turner Kindred as a secretary but quickly evolved into obtaining her insurance license and, when Kindred retired, she stayed with the office working with Brent Jenson as he developed the business.
Even though she is licensed in all insurance lines, she said she preferred to work with those wanting life insurance. “Life insurance is something that we really need the most. I see young people making their insurance decisions based on either buying food or life insurance. They need it the most since it will help their families.”
As the years and technologies have changed, she has seen a decline in the personal touch that used to bring her together with clients. “I miss that hands on approach and working with the people face to face.
The 1977 Henryetta High graduate is getting ready to take it easy starting next week. “I will do some gardening and David and I will be taking some trips.” Her husband retired from Coca Cola several years ago and is well on the mend from some health issues giving the two an opportunity to visit their children. Between them they have five offspring. That means there are some grandchildren that will be getting close attention.
Teresa said she will be getting more involved in the Muskogee American Legion Auxiliary as well as the St. Michaels Altar Society and Beta Sigma Phi.
“I feel very fortunate to have known her as a great employee and a great friend,” Jenson said. “She will definitely be missed by our staff and our customers but we are happy for her to begin her much-deserved retirement.”
He said her sticking with the office when he took over was a stroke of luck.
“Theresa was already here having worked for the previous agent. She knew all of our customers and helped make that transition so much smoother.
She has been our primary writer of life insurance and has helped hundreds of families protect their loved ones. She and her husband have become close personal friends of my family as well.”
Her desk will not stay empty as Tara Williams will be handling the State Farm customers starting Monday.
