Hazardous materials workers were called to the Henryetta water plant early Sunday morning after a spill released a liquid containing caustic soda.
According to Henryetta public works director Ron Casey, the spill happened in the water plant chemical room and was contained in that building.
He said due to the amount of the spill, the state was contacted and sent crews in to clean up the residue. "At no time were city workers in danger and the water supply for the town was not affected," he said.
Caustic soda is one of the chemicals that is used to treat the water before it is sent to the town.
