If the present trend continues, Henryetta is on pace to set a new record in sales tax collections.
So far this calendar year, the city has received $2,226,869 in sales taxes. By this time last year, receipts totaled $2,118,171. The 2019 calendar year ended with $2,816,203. That was the highest ever received by the city.
This month the city received $248,386, a gain of $3,600 from last September’s return.This disbursement of sales taxes was based on July business.
With the exception of Beggs and Weleetka, the increase in business was reported in other area communities.
Okmulgee picked up a $573,988 check, well above the $528,627 from a year ago.
Dewar’s return was $13,180 compared to $9,928 last year; Okemah was up nearly $10,000 with a check for $114,589 and Morris received $23,229 which was above the $21,543 in 2019.
Weleetka had a slight drop, $16,239 compared to $17,059 last year and Beggs received $37,683, over $4,000 less than a year ago.
The Okmulgee County treasury swelled by $404,303, an increase from $381,852 last year.
Statewide, $162,189,663 in sales tax collections were returned to the cities and towns reflected an increase of $197,559 from the $161,992,104 distributed to the cities and towns in September last year.
