Henryetta students returned to classrooms Monday morning and superintendent Dwayne Noble said the return went smoothly for the most part. “We had a few hiccups here and there but the kids were excited to get back,” he told school board members.
In a short, 20-minute regular meeting, the board was told that some delays were experienced in taking temperatures of students but Noble expected that to smooth out in the coming days.
Students in all grades are required to wear masks but that, according to Noble, did not bring out any complaints.
He said buses were sanitized after students arrived but saw many parents dropping off the children.
“I got a number of calls saying, ‘thank you’,” said board member Pam Bealko.
The board approved the resignation of Martha Richarson from her paraprofessional position. In her letter, Richerson cited the pandemic and school board actions for her decision to resign effective this month.
Board members approved a series of fundraisers as well as transferring funds from the athletic account to football, softball, track and cross country, and high school and middle school cheerleading accounts.
